The Beginning

It started with a simple question.

Teakina began around a table in the United States. Friends gathered, sharing tea, asking a simple question: “How can we brew better tea than this?”

One of us comes from a tea-producing family in Rize, Turkey—raised among tea gardens in the highlands of the Black Sea, and shaped by years of building businesses in the gastronomy world.

Another is a globally recognized actor who has spent years deepening his craft in food and beverage, creating boutique, thoughtfully made products.

Different paths, same passion: real tea and honest taste.

And then we said it out loud: “We brew incredible tea from Rize.” That simple sentence changed everything.

The Need

Something was missing.

While living in the U.S., we found ourselves doing the same thing again and again—scanning market shelves, reading labels in cafés. The options were endless, yet something was always missing. Sugary drinks, carbon-heavy beverages, endless fruit juices, and iced teas with ingredient lists we couldn’t fully trust.

Everything was available. But nothing felt right.

We wanted something we could drink all day. Something clean. Something real. Something that actually tasted like tea.

In Turkey, tea comes before ceremonies, before plans, before conclusions. It starts conversations. It keeps people at the table. It makes moments longer.
